The Young Agribusiness Professionals (YAPs) is an initiative of the VFF and was established in 2006 with the aim of bringing young farmers and agribusiness professionals together to share information; voice opinion; plan, coordinate and implement regional activities; generate ideas; and provide input to and feedback on VFF policy matters.
Eight young agriculture representatives were selected from across the state, chosen based on their leadership skills and to represent the commodities of the VFF. The 8 committee members are committed to representing all young Victorian agribusiness professionals.
Role of the YAPs
- To promote a positive image of Victorian Agriculture
- To develop a platform for issues concerning young farmers to be heard within the organisation
- To provide a forum for feedback on the policy positioning of the VFF
- To act as an advocate for the overall activities of the organisation
- To assist in the recruitment of agribusiness professionals to the VFF
- To aid and support events and activities relating to young agribusiness professionals
- To aid and support Victorian Young Farmers
- To provide advice to government and industry on matters affecting young agribusiness professionals
